I don’t know about you, but for me the summer is flying by! I hope you and your families have taken some time to enjoy each other and relax. We had a few responses from the Question of the Week: What are you reading this summer at the beach, the pool or in your backyard? This week’s Across my Desk is full of interesting news and trends. In addition, I have included another audio report from NPR regarding the difference of how heart disease is identified and treated between men and women. There are also some good tips that you can use to stay healthy.
The team at Dorland Healthcare Information is putting the finishing touches on the fall Issue of Case In Point. This issue will be out in time for Case Management Week, October 8th-14th. If you are involved in the practice of case management I hope you are starting to plan for this celebration. One tip that I will give you is to think of ways to illustrate to your community about the impact you/your organization has on ensuring safe, quality, cost effective care for consumers. This is the essence of the case management practice! Real life examples are the best way to get this message across to the public. Unfortunately, case managers traditionally do not tout their successes as many feel that it “just their job”.
