Remember when learning was a part of your everyday life? Last week a catalogue crossed my desk that sparked my interest and made me think of what it would be like to go back to school and take a class on American history, Shakespeare or the history of impressionism.
As I looked through the catalogue from the Teaching Company entitled “Great Courses,” I noted that there were a variety of topics that one could choose when putting together a college schedule. The courses were in-depth and taught by professors from leading colleges from around the world. The best part was that each program was a fraction of the cost of a formal college course. I was also intrigued that each program was offered via DVD or videotapes, so you could watch the presentation on your TV or computer. Or, you could order CDs or audio downloads so you could listen on an MP3 player while commuting to work or taking your daily walk. If you want to check the catalog out yourself, go to http://trygreatcourses.com/.
