Many of us are doing our best to balance family, work, friends and social activities. How are YOU doing? Are you taking time to breathe? Today, health experts say that people who are overscheduled:
- Have a higher incidence of anxiety and depression.
- Suffer stress-related physical ailments, such as headaches, stomach aches and changes in sleeping or eating patterns.
- Often can be short-tempered with colleagues and family members.
- Turn to drug and alcohol abuse to cope.
Being aware of how we are feeling and taking the time to take care of ourselves is important. Doing so allows us to have the time, energy and passion to do all the things that we need to do. This week, I would like to ask YOU to share with me what you are doing to balance your life. Email me at allewellyn@dorlandhealth.com with your balancing techniques and I will share them with our readers in next week’s Across My Desk.
Also, the April/May issue of Case in Point should soon be arriving at your home or organization. Once you receive it, take a few minutes to review the issue and share it with your colleagues. One article that I especially recommend you check out is in the “In Closing” section on the last page of the magazine. Our Executive Editor, Robin Jay, writes “In Closing” each issue, featuring important lifestyle tips for case managers. In this issue, she explains the benefits of the Spa! Robin took an extra step and contacted Spa Finders and after explaining who case managers were and what we do, she was able to secure a 10-percent discount so you can take some time out of your busy schedule to relax. I hope everyone can take advantage of this special treat.
If you do not receive Case in Point at your home or organization, feel free to go to www.caseinpointmagazine.com to read the latest issue online. Once there, you can sign up to receive future issues and see how Case in Point can help you improve your practice, your career and your life!
Have a good week and don’t forget to breathe!
