Americans without insurance or with public insurance such as Medicaid are more likely to have breast or oral cancer diagnosed at an advanced stage, according to two studies. Researchers with the American Cancer Society said that reviews of patient data indicated that those with no insurance were more likely than those with private insurance to be diagnosed with advanced oropharyngeal cancer, while uninsured patients and those with Medicaid were nearly 2.5 times more likely to be diagnosed with advanced breast cancer than patients with private insurance.
