This inaugural meeting discussed advances in behavioral telehealth, including applications to promote wellness, change behavior and manage diseases. The program addressed the shift from traditional healthcare delivery to more consumer-driven approaches. The summit brought together included senior executives, clinical leaders, IT staff, and clinicians from across the continuum of care. Dr. Steven Locke, MD, Research Psychiatrist, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; and Associate Professor of Health Sciences and Technology, MIT, Program Chair of the Summit, designed the Summit to explore how emerging information technologies can support the integration of behavioral health into primary care and chronic disease management.

Today, wellness and disease management are the buzz words of the healthcare industry. The Disease Management Colloquium was a conference packed with information, best practices and opportunities to ask questions of leaders in the industry so that programs can be improved. Kudos go out to David Nash, MD, and his team for coordinating an excellent conference.

Due to my passion for training and development, I looked forward to attending the Medical Education Congress to learn about the trends and issues impacting this arena. The conference was well planned and brought together leaders from the industry of continuing education to provide updates on the practice as well as to enable an exchange of information among professionals in the practice. I learned a great deal over the two days I attended and met some important contacts.
