I would like to thank all of you who have participated in the Trends in Case Management survey. To date, over 1,000 professionals across the continuum of care have participated, which gives us a good sample of the current practice. It was my goal when we created the survey to gather information from YOU and demonstrate the value YOU bring to today’s healthcare system. You can share the survey statistics with key members of your organization to demonstrate how your department fares compared to others around the country. The information gained from this survey may help you demonstrate the need for additional staff, increase salaries, and make other improvements to your individual practice. When you review the results in the October issue of Case in Point, you may find that your organization is within the national norm, which validates that your practice is on target. If that’s the case, you can celebrate!
I would also like share two important enhancements to the Case in Point web site. First, today we unveil the Case Management Bookstore, an online resource you can use to find books, programs, and resources to assist you in learning about the practice. Each of the products is written by case managers for case managers. To visit the bookstore, go to www.caseinpointmagazine.com and click on the “CM Bookstore” icon.
The second resource that goes live today is Out & About. The purpose of this site is to give you some insight into the various conferences that I have attended the first half of 2007. The overviews provide insight into the meetings and value they bring in enhancing collaboration between areas of practice. I hope that you have a few minutes to journey with me and learn about conferences you may want to watch for in 2008.
Make sure you check back often — both of these resources are dynamic and will change frequently as we add new information.
