If you have not visited www.caseinpointmagazine.com recently, I wanted to invite you to check out some of the ‘cool tools’ that we have added over the past few weeks. In addition to being able to view the current issue of Case in Point and access archived editions of the magazine, you will find a wealth of additional information. For example, you’ll find a link to Leadership Interviews where industry thought leaders participate in live interviews on various topics pertinent to the practice. You’ll also find links to a bookstore that contains a variety of books, manuals, and other resources written by case managers for case managers; short video programs that relate to articles in the magazine; and an update on the various conferences that I have attended so that you can decide if you want to put them on your calendar in 2008.
Starting with the August/September issue of Case in Point, you will note two cool new icons throughout the publication that are framed in a black box that contains the words Leadership Interviews and Video & Visuals. If you received Case in Point already, you’ll find a “Video & Visuals” icon at the end of the article called A Novel Approach to End-of-Life Care, which begins on page 14. Another Video & Visuals icon can be found on page 40; at the end of the article entitled Peripheral Arterial Disease: Coming Out of the Shadows. When you see these icons, take a few moments to log into www.caseinpointmagazine.com and click on the icon to view a video or listen to a concise interview on a topic relevant to your practice.
I envision organizations using these new tools to organize “Lunch and Learns” based on the videos and interviews as a continuing education opportunity or as part of your “Journal Club” to have dynamic discussion as part of your professional development activities. The audio interviews can be downloaded to your MP3 Player or iPod, allowing you to listen as you take your morning walk or run. I am excited about the new editions to our Website and look forward to your feedback and recommendation on topics you would like to see added. Feel free to email me at allewellyn@dorlandhealth.com.
If you don’t have the August/September issue of Case in Point in front of you right now, you can view it online at www.caseinpointmagazine.com. Once there, you will see the icons I have described above. If you are not at your computer, here are examples of the ‘buttons’ that I have described. Take a few minutes to click on each button to learn about the site and the contents of each. Once done, bookmark www.caseinpontmagazine.com so you can check back often for new additions to the site, as well as additional buttons!
