National Case Management Week

All of us at Dorland Healthcare Information would like to extend best wishes to everyone involved in the practice of case management. National Case Management Week (October 7-13) serves to recognize case managers, to educate the public about case management, and to increase recognition of the significant contribution that case managers provide to the quality of healthcare for patients, providers and payers. Thank you for all you do each day to improve the care for patients across the continuum.

This year, I had the opportunity to celebrate with my local chapter, the South Florida Case Management Network. They held their celebration on October 10, 2007, at the Don Shula Hotel in Miami Lakes, Fla. The evening was well-attended by case managers from hospitals and managed care organizations and those involved with home health and long-term care. I have been a member of this chapter since 1988 and I have met many professionals who have become friends and colleagues that I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. Attending the meeting allowed me to reconnect with old friends and meet many of the new members who have joined the chapter over the years. Scott Middleman from Black Diamond Transportation is the current president of the local chapter of the CMSA, South Florida Case Management Network (SFCMN), and he served as the night’s Master of Ceremonies. He welcomed all to the meeting and saw that all had a good time. Door prizes were supplied by the various vendors who support the chapter.
