ACIP issues revised adult immunization guidelines
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), an agency that reports to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has released updated 2007-2008 guidelines for adult immunizations that recommend varicella vaccinations for all adults with no apparent immunity, and zoster vaccinations for adults ages 60 and up. Healthcare advocates help navigate system, lack standards
Healthcare advocates who work with patients and their families to find solutions to their health problems are increasingly in demand, causing some advocates to press for standards and credentialing in the profession. Pfizer to end inhaled insulin drug
Pfizer has decided to stop production of its inhaled insulin drug Exubera, citing the drug’s failure “to gain the acceptance of patients and physicians,” chief executive Jeffrey Kindler said in a statement. The company had expected the drug to be a blockbuster. Click here to read more.
