The 2007 Salary and Trends Survey will be released in the Oct/Nov issue of Case in Point, which should be arriving in your mailbox this week. For those of you who receive Across My Desk, I wanted to give each of you a sneak preview of the final report. I also ask that you take a few minutes to review the report and complete the comment sheet, so we can gauge your reactions, along with any recommendations you might have to make sure the 2008 Salary and Trends Survey meets each and every one of your needs. Also, feel free to share this report with your colleagues, as it is an important document for all involved in the practice.

In addition, we are also introducing a continuing education supplement entitled Working Together Toward Cultural Competency, which can also be downloaded at www.caseinpointmagazine.com. This supplement is the product of two interviews that our editorial staff conducted for an article (by the same title) that will appear in the Dec/Jan issue of Case in Point. Understanding and striving to achieve cultural competency is essential for those involved in case/care management. Because of the need for education in this area, and its relevance to those in the practice, I felt the article was worth appending with continuing education credits. I submitted the supplement to the Commission for Case Manager Certification, as well as the Certification for Disability Management Specialists Commission. The article was approved by both accreditation bodies for two contact hours. Due to the time and the manpower that processing the posttest and reviewing the feedback from the program evaluations require, a special processing fee of $10.00 is needed to cover the cost. I will waive this fee for those who take the time to provide me with their feedback for the 2007 Salary and Trends Survey.
