Over the past year, we at Dorland Health have been working to build up the Case Management Bookstore on www.caseinpoint.cmrg.com, a project with the goal to highlight books, resources and tools that will assist case managers in meeting their clinical and professional development needs. Today, we have a robust site with excellent resources that you can refer to when you are in need of information. And as we continue to find resources, the Bookstore will expand.
The CM Bookstore will archive important resources, like continuing education supplements, case management surveys and other tools that will allow you to become an informed leader in the practice.
We have added a new CE Supplement recently and, because it is not only an important but a unique resource, I want to make sure that you are aware of it. This CE Supplement provides information that case managers who are ready for change have asked for years: What does it take to become an independent? The Independent Case Management Supplement is a compilation of articles taken from the Career Focus department of Case in Point magazine. These articles shed light on the business skills and business-related resources that will help ensure a successful venture into independent practice. In addition, the Supplement presents advice from the very mouths of successful independent case managers, who have leant insight into what being independent has meant to them and what creative initiatives they have taken to remain successful in a growing and competitive market.
The Supplement is also approved for four contact hours, so even if you are not ready to consider moving toward independent practice, the information gained will be helpful toward helping you set your career goals.
In the Resource section of the Case Management Bookstore, we have added four new resources directed toward the care of distinct populations. The directories address Adult and Senior Services; Children, Youth and Family Services; HIV/AIDS Resources; and Mental Health and Addictions Services. Each of these directories, presented by Contexo Media, of which Dorland Health is part, is rich in details that case managers can use when working with patients. If you click on a directory, you can review the table of contents to get an idea of what it contains.
So take some time this week to browse through the Case Management Bookstore to see what tools can better your practice and what you can use in your organization to create case managers endowed with strong leadership abilities. If you have a recommendation for the Case Management Bookstore, something that has helped you improve your own practice, please let me know so that we can share the advice with others.
One last thing. Don’t miss the news feature in this week’s Across My Desk. Each tidbit links to a main article that will arm you with information on current issues and trends impacting today’s health care system.
Take care and have a great week!
