Last week I attended the conference of the volunteer organization Quota International, to which I belong. I learned about Quota from a friend in 2005 and decided to join as a way to give back to my community. Over the past three years I have worked with a group of dynamic women and men who have shown me how empowering it can be to participate in service projects for those in need. It is a true learning experience for the recipients as well as those providing the service.

Hope all of you enjoyed the Fourth of July and were able to celebrate with your friends and family. A long weekend always allows us to regroup and think about what is important.
