As editor in chief of case management products for Dorland Health, I wanted to use this edition of Across My Desk to share an important campaign that is currently under way for those who provide services and products that case managers use when they develop plans of care.

The “Jump to the Top” campaign will allow you reach busy case managers and showcase your products and services. As a reader of Across My Desk, you are invited to take advantage of this special promotion to get listed in the 2009 Case Management Resource Guide. Doing so will ensure that your company is visible to case managers across the continuum.

For more than 19 years, CMRG has been utilized by case managers as part of resource management — one of the most time-consuming aspects of the case management process. Having a tool that provides accurate information is key to allowing case management professionals to develop a plan that will meet the complex needs of their patients and ensure that those patients receive safe, quality and cost-effective care based on individual needs.

The Case Management Resource Guide contains a wide spectrum of providers, suppliers and professionals who offer the products and services that meet the complex needs of today’s patient.

Each year Dorland Health sets out to update the directories with the most current information. This year we have taken suggestions from case managers who use the directories. Their input allowed us to consolidate some sections, fine-tune others, and add a few new categories that they suggested. Here is a preview of some of the sections that will be part of the 2009 version of CMRG:

  • Behavioral Health Treatment resources, including Addiction and Learning Disability listings
  • Disease Management Programs
  • Homecare Services, both skilled and unskilled
  • Independent Professionals – a new section that we have added this year for independent case managers, care managers, life care planners, legal nurse consultants, rehabilitation professionals, vocational specialists and others who contract directly with payers or consumers. This is a sector of the industry that has been expanding, so we chose to give independents and small companies a venue to advertise their services and increase referrals
  • Long-Term Care & Specialty Hospitals
  • Medical Equipment Providers, Distributors & Manufacturers
  • Specialty Services & Support Resources
  • Transportation Services

For providers and organizations, being part of the Case Management Resource Guide allows your company to “tell its story” to the busy case management professionals charged with coordinating care for patients across the continuum. As an added benefit, your company’s information will be added to the online version of CMRG within 30 days of placing your order, in addition to a listing in the hard copy.

To give you an idea of the exposure your organization will receive when you are listed in CMRG, consider that the directories are circulated to more than 20,000 key subscribers in a variety of settings every year. In addition, as mentioned above, advertisers are also added to the online version of the directory. Our statistics show that in 2007 the online version had more than 50,000 user sessions every month — translating into 1.7 million searches last year.

So, to answer the one question I get asked most often — “How do I reach busy case management professionals?” — the answer is to get listed in the 2009 version of CMRG, as well as the online version. Learn more about the Jump to the Top promotion here.
